Description
The Qahir class comprises a pair of corvettes created with stealth features tailored for the Royal Navy of Oman. These vessels were conceived and constructed by the VT Group in the United Kingdom, with a notable focus on minimizing their radar signature. The design incorporates radar-absorbent materials and the strategic angling of surfaces to diminish detectability.
With their mission to enhance Oman's maritime capabilities, these corvettes were ordered on April 5, 1992, as a part of Project Muheet. The building process commenced in September of the same year. These corvettes, after completion in 1996, were delivered to Oman, with the final one, Al Mua'zzar, being commissioned in 1997.
