Description
The Abdali-I is a short range ballistic missile developed by Pakistan believed to have a range of up to 200 km (120 miles) and capable of hitting strategic targets in neighboring countries like India. The Abdali-I is solid-fueled and can be transported and launched quickly compared to liquid-fueled missiles, making it harder to detect before launch. It is road-mobile, able to be deployed rapidly on transporter-erector-launcher vehicles which improves survivability and quick reaction capability.
The missile is capable of carrying nuclear or conventional warheads weighing up to 500 kg with accuracy improved by an inertial guidance system. The Abdali-I missile was first test fired in 2011 and is believed to have entered operational service around 2014-2015 with Pakistan's Army Strategic Forces Command. It is produced domestically by Pakistan's National Development Complex and gives added deterrent power in the region, with multiple variants speculated to be under development.
