Description
The Steyr TMP (Taktische Maschinenpistole/Tactical Machine Pistol) was an Austrian weapon manufactured by Steyr Mannlicher. In 2001, Steyr sold the design to Brügger & Thomet.
The TMP is chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum and utilizes detachable box magazines, available in 15 or 30-round capacities. A suppressor and an optional fixed stock could be fitted to the weapon.
A semi-automatic variant, the Steyr SPP (Special Purpose Pistol), was also produced, differing from the TMP by featuring a slightly increased barrel length and lacking the forward tactical grip. After Steyr sold the TMP design, Brügger & Thomet developed the MP9 from it.
The firearm has been used by specialized units, including EKO Cobra in Austria and the Gruppo di Intervento Speciale in Italy. Myanmar has also manufactured the design locally under the designation MA-13 MK-II.
