Description
The RT-20 (Ručni Top 20, "Hand Cannon 20mm") is a Croatian bullpup anti-materiel rifle developed by Metallic in Rijeka during the mid-1990s and marketed by RH-Alan.
This single-shot, bolt-action weapon is chambered in 20x110mm Hispano. Its distinctive counter-recoil system uses a venturi tube above the barrel to redirect propellant gasses rearward over the shooter's shoulder, similar to a recoilless rifle, which creates a significant backblast area. Due to the bolt's position behind the shooter's head, the rifle must be removed from the shoulder to reload unless a second person assists. It fires a 130-gram projectile at 850 m/s, yielding a muzzle energy of 46,962.5 J. The bolt head has nine lugs in an interrupted thread pattern and unlocks with a 60-degree clockwise turn. The 20x110mm Hispano cartridge supports various ammunition types, including AP, API, APIT, HE, HEI, HEIT, SAPHEI, APDS, and HE-M. The cartridge was likely chosen for logistical reasons.
The RT-20 is considered among the most powerful anti-materiel rifles in service.
