Description
The CheyTac Intervention, also known as the CheyTac M200, is an American bolt-action sniper rifle manufactured by CheyTac USA. It can also be classified as an anti-materiel rifle. It is based on the EDM Arms Windrunner.
The M200 Intervention is a manually operated, rotating bolt sniper rifle fed by a detachable single-stack magazine, typically holding seven rounds, with a five-round magazine available as an option. It is chambered in either .408 Chey Tac or .375 Chey Tac ammunition, cartridges specifically developed for long-range use and optimized for accuracy.
Key features include:
-
A Picatinny rail for mounting optical sights.
-
A free-floating heavy-fluted barrel that can be quickly removed.
-
A shroud serving as a mount for the integral folding bipod and a carrying handle.
-
A removable McArthur PGRS-1 muzzle brake, which can be replaced by an OPSINC suppressor.
-
A collapsible, retractable, and adjustable buttstock containing an integral folding monopod.
Day optical sights include the Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 and the US Optics SN-9. Night vision is provided by the AN/PVS-14 GEN III monocular with the Monoloc device, supported by an AN/PEQ-2 infrared laser. The firearm is part of the CheyTac Long Range Sniper System (LRSS), which includes a portable advanced ballistic computer, laser rangefinder binoculars, and meteorological sensors, providing data and calculations for accurate long-range firing.
The CheyTac Intervention was initially manufactured in multiple variants, including the M200 with a 29-inch barrel, the M200 Carbine, and the M200 CIV (Civilian Variant). The M200 CIV version was discontinued and was described as a marginally de-rated Mil Spec M200 with a shorter effective range. The 29-inch fully accurized version is currently the only version available for sale.
Users of the CheyTac Intervention include the Czech Republic (601st Special Forces Group), Poland (GROM operatives), and Turkey (Maroon Berets operatives).
