Paraguayan Air Force
The Paraguay Air Force, also known as Fuerza AĆ©rea Paraguaya (FAP), is the air warfare branch of the Paraguayan Armed Forces. Established on October 17, 1944, the FAP primarily focuses on aerial defense, reconnaissance, and air support missions. Its headquarters is located in the capital city of AsunciĆ³n. The FAP operates a modest fleet that includes various aircraft types. As of 2021, these include Cessna A-37 Dragonfly light attack aircraft, Embraer EMB 312 Tucano training aircraft, Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, and Cessna 402C utility aircraft for transport and patrolling purposes. The Paraguay Air Force has historically demonstrated a strong commitment to regional security and has actively participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations. It has also cooperated with neighboring countries, particularly Brazil, in joint military exercises and training. The FAP's capabilities are periodically updated through limited acquisitions of new aircraft and equipment, allowing it to maintain a credible defense capability.
