Moldovan Air Force

The Moldova Air Force, officially known as the Air Forces of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova, is the aerial warfare branch of the Moldovan Armed Forces. It was established on April 3, 1992, following the country's declaration of independence from the Soviet Union. The primary task of the Moldova Air Force is to protect the nation's airspace and provide support to ground forces when necessary. The core of the air force consists of MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter jets, which were acquired from Russia in the early 1990s. In addition to the MiG-29s, the air force also operates a small fleet of Mi-8 helicopters for transport and search-and-rescue missions. Over the years, the Moldova Air Force has faced challenges due to limited resources and funding constraints. However, it has been actively engaged in modernization efforts to improve its capabilities and maintain readiness. As of recent reports, the Moldova Air Force is a relatively small and modest force, mainly focused on ensuring the country's territorial integrity and safeguarding its airspace.
